The Ontario Society of Artists (OSA) invites Canadian artists to apply for our 2026 Open Juried Exhibition.

This is an annual exhibit of the OSA with the purpose of promoting the Visual Arts in Ontario.  The OSA has a long history of excellence.

The exhibition is open to all Artists residing in Canada. We welcome all manner of original 2D and 3D visual art (drawing, printing, painting, photography, mixed media, sculpture)created in the last three years.

Exhibition Dates:  March 20 - April 26.

Submission Deadline: Friday, February 20th  11:59 PM, 2026.

Notification of Acceptance: March 4, 2026 by email

Delivery Date: Sunday March 15th (10am – 2pm) – Monday March 16th, 2026 (10am – 4pm) 


Installation: Tuesday March 17th – Thursday March 19th, 2026 (10am -4pm)


First Day of Exhibition & Sale open to the public: Friday March 20th, 2026


Artists Opening Reception: Sunday March 29th, 2026 (12pm – 3pm)



Last Day of Exhibition & Sale: Sunday April 26th, 2026


Take-down Date: Monday April 27th, 2026. 10am-4pm

Pick up Date & Time: Monday April 27th, 2026 (10am – 4pm)

Submission Details

Submissions are limited to a maximum of TWO works from each artist.

All submissions must be digital. All images submitted must be in .jpg format , with a maximum of 1080 pixels on the longest side and 2 MB.  Label your images as follows:  1. Last_First_title_ size_medium_price 1.your  correspond with the numbers on your  submission. For video or electronic work, prepare a still image and an mp4. or mov. format. • DO NOT compress the files using any compression software and DO NOT include hyper links to other sites with your images

No in-person or physical submissions will be accepted. 

All submissions must be the original work of the submitting artist, and completed after 2023. No derivatives or copies are eligible. All works must be the sole conception of the artist. No use of Ai generated images for reference may be used. Artists may be required to submit images of work in progress should there be a question. Works previously exhibited in other OSA juried shows are not eligible.

Entry Fees:

  • $40 for members

  • $50 for non-members

  • Entry fees are non-refundable



Terms and Conditions

  • Maximum size is 48 wide including frame.

  • Artist's must include a statement of intent for each work  to a maximum of 100 words.

  • Must be over the age of 18

  • Must be a Canadian resident living in Canada

  • Work must be for sale. The Georgina Centre for Arts and Culture will take 20% and OSA will take a 20% commission on the sale of each artwork for a total of 40% 

  • The OSA does not collect HST please include this in your price if you remit

  • The OSA and the GCAC will not be responsible for artwork. Please obtain your own insurance.

  • Accepted works may be shipped to the Gallery.  Artists must arrange this with the GCAC.  Details on acceptance 

  • Work selected for the exhibition must be as submitted for jurying, or it will be disqualified. 

  • No entry may be removed by the artist from the exhibition until the final pick-up date.


Finishing specifications

Maximum size is 48 inches width including frame

All works must be completely dry and ready to hang or display. Unframed work must be on a minimum 1.5” Gallery depth surface with finished edges. Regular depth surfaces must be framed. All accepted two-dimensional works must be ready to hang with D-rings and multi-strand picture wire. The Gallery can provide  a suitable plinth for 3D works, but artists should be prepared in the event a plinth won't suit the work.

Selection Process:

  • All submitted artworks will be juried

  • The jurors’ decisions are final

Katerina Atanassova

Katerina Atanassova, Senior Curator of Canadian at the National Gallery of Canada is an Art Historian, Author, and Art Educator, specializing in Nineteenth and Twentieth Century Canadian Art, and its intersections with European Art spanning from the Medieval to the Modern Movements. She brings over two decades of experience in designing and curating dynamic exhibitions that address missing narratives in art history, and establish new perspectives on gender, race, and regional biases in the visual arts in Canada. Her exhibitions and publications are critically acclaimed by major museums and media outlets in Canada, the UK, Netherlands, Norway, Germany, Switzerland, and France. Award-winning author of best-selling exhibition catalogues, scholarly articles, and independent books. Mentor to new generations of art curators now serving several museums in Canada. Philanthropic ambassador with established credibility in cultivating patron and donor communities, raising over 50 million in art and funding for the National Gallery of Canada and other museums in the country. 


Johanna Mizgala

Johanna Mizgala is the Chief Curator of the House of Commons Collection. She has lectured and published extensively on museology, architecture, and contemporary art. She is a recognized leader in Canadian arts and cultural heritage institutions and has significant experience in arts education and in visual literacy, as a curator and as a freelance art critic. She has curated exhibitions for the National Gallery of Canada, Library and Archives Canada, the National Portrait Gallery (UK), le Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the Confederation Art Centre, the New Brunswick Museum, and the Remai Modern, amongst other institutions. 

Prior to coming to the House of Commons, she was the Director of Exhibitions at Library and Archives Canada. She redesigned the institution’s travelling exhibition program and renegotiated the partnership with TD Canada Trust for their philanthropic project: the TD Summer Reading Club: a free, bilingual, literacy program offered through Canadian public libraries across the country.

 

Ernestine Tahedl 

Ernestine Tahedl   was born in Austria and received a Master's Degree from University of  Applied Arts and immigrated to Edmonton Alberta in 1963. 

Participating in group and traveling shows, she  had solo exhibitions in Austria, France, Japan, the USA and Canada. 

 She is a member of the RCA and O.S.A.. She was the recipient of the Queen’s Golden and Diamond Jubilee Medal and was awarded The Golden Decoration of Honour for services to thRepublic of Austria. 2016, 9 Mosaic panels by Ernestine Tahedl commissioned 1965 are now part of the new Royal Alberta Museum, Edmonton Alberta.
