Always Were, Always Will Be
Oil on wood panel

This still life is my small nod to our nurses who have been working on the front lines during this COVID outbreak. My mother was a nurse, and my older daughter is a nurse. I was able to include in the work my Mother’s Graduating 1947 graduation image from Women’s College Hospital, her nursing pin, and her instrument case. I supplemented with vintage finds and used a calm nostalgic tone in my pallet.
About the Artist
I was born and raised in Toronto and relocated to Stratford Ontario in 2017. My artistic journey began later in life, and it has proved to be very rewarding. I enrolled in the Academy of Realist Art Toronto in the fall of 2007, graduated in the fall of 2013, and continued in a teaching role until 2015.
I try to choose objects for my still life paintings that have had a life of their own, asking the viewer to question each objects justification for it being included in the tableau. My stories are moments in time: a little curious, vaguely familiar.
I am a member of: The Art Renewal Center (ARC), Ontario Society of Artists, Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA), FCAToronto chapter, National Oil and Acrylic Painter’s Society (NOAPS)
