Oil/CWM on wood panel
22 x 30 x 1.5 inches
My intention is to express a visual sense of energy, movement & space. I approached my paintings from all sides revelling in the tactile senses of the painting medium. My paintings are about abstract shapes, contrast and textures. I use oil paints and mix in cold wax medium. I lay in an number of layers of different tones and colours. Through a back and forth process of adding and reducing paint with a solvent or scraping down through different layers I create a history of different colours and textures. I frequently stand back to see where this painting is taking me. Then I work towards resolution. Out of creative chaos I come to realize my compositions.
