Like chapters in a novel, the rings in a tree tell a story. They describe lean times, times of abundance and with a little imagination, can take you from a starry night to a howling storm. In this cross-section, layers of water-scoured rocks lie beneath a truncated giant and hold the secrets of a constantly swirling life cycle.
About the Artist
I have kept a journal since I was in high school. It has taken me through University, my teaching career, marriage and motherhood. Most importantly, it documents my creative journey with thoughts and photos of work from conception to completion. Although not every thought is a good one, the law of probability allows that some are, and I am optimistic there may yet be more to come.
My work is conceptual in process and execution. I start with an observation and work to build the visual around it. I incorporate Mixed Media into the work, which keeps me interested in the creative process. Something re-cycled, discarded or unusual may still have something valid to offer. As a result, these artifacts often find their way into the finished artwork. I merely provide the venue.
