The annual Open Juried Exhibition is a showcase of art from across Canada. There is no set theme to this exhibit, it exists to celebrate and promote outstanding emerging and established Canadian visual art and artists.
For many, the pandemic has shaped their art for the last year. For some, it has caused a reexamination of their lives and art practices, for others a complete change of direction, some creators experimenting with new forms of art.
While the event remains in the virtual world for pandemic safety, the artworks exist in real life. Many of the works are for sale, details are listed on both the panel in the exhibit, and in the catalogue. Even if the work is Not for Sale (marked NFS), we encourage viewers to link through to artists’ sites to explore more of their work. If you like what you see, never hesitate to ask an artist about creating a commissioned piece.
Founded in 1872, the Ontario Society of Artists is Canada’s longest continuing art society. For 148 years, this exhibit has featured the work of hundreds of fine artists, many of whom have been and continue to be the cornerstones of Canada’s art world.
