We are very sorry to write that OSA Past President Tony Vander Voet died on the evening of Sunday April 22 after a battle with cancer, with his family by his side.
We send our sincere condolences to his wife Susan McCrae and his family. Both Tony and Susan have been dedicated and active OSA members, supporting the work of the organization and artists everywhere. Together they chaired exhibitions, as recently as the 2017 Members Exhibition at the Carrier Gallery, wrote the members’ newsletter, generously mentored the Council, and of course Tony previously led council as President from 2013-2015. They often joined the OSA trips to Killarney in Georgian Bay and twice went to Dingle, Ireland, touring, painting and drawing. Tony always brought his genuine love of art and his appreciation for the different talents and skills of everyone. He always had an encouraging word and an insightful view of any situation. There is no question, he was loved and appreciated by all of us and we will miss him dearly for a very long time.
There will be no funeral according to Tony’s wish. A Celebration of his Life will be held in June.

Janet Read @ Lee Contemporary Mar. 24-Apr. 14
Embers of the sky, Janet’s first show at Lee Contemporary consists of works on linen, canvas and acrylic on paper. The work is inspired by light over water and the deep colours of sky and water as they reflect and amplify each other.
Light and dark in saturated colour animate my work. Saturated deep blues allude to the mysterious depths of water and vivid agitated and gestural painted skies to the light of the air. These elements collide and mirror each other in a mode of atmospheric abstraction, a term coined by Carla Garnet, curator, to describe this work in my solo exhibition at the Art Gallery of Peterborough in 2013.
Diana Harding Tucker, OSA and Ann Stanley are participants of the The Canadian Association of Professional Image Creators (CAPIC) Double Vision Exhibition 2018 taking place in the Papermill Gallery at the Todmorden Mills Heritage Site.
The opening takes place on April 5, 2018, from 6-10 p.m. The exhibition continues through April 15th, 2018.
Double Vision is an exhibition that pairs participating professional image creators across Canada by random draw and challenges them to create portraits of one another. The completed works are then exhibited side by side as a single submission.
