Come and see “Shibumi”, a pop-up exhibition of the works of Peter Dušek OSA.
In today’s world, the eyes and the soul are assaulted by a myriad of things, causing us to lose our focus, become scattered, and even blinded to the simple beauty hidden around us. Peter Dušek is an award-winning Canadian photographer whose photographs give us a glimpse of this beauty, hidden like a special shell amongst the pebbles on a beach. Inspired by the philosophy of Zen, Peter places a strong emphasis on balance and negative space and his artistic design goal is “as little as possible, as much as necessary”, giving an abstract quality to his intimate landscapes. His style embodies the Japanese design aesthetic shibumi, which means “a quiet elegance”. In this simplicity can be found the serenity and perhaps even the happiness that often eludes us.
The art gallery is located in the town of Creemore, Ontario at 151 Mill St., a short drive from Toronto or Collingwood.
Gallery hours (Peter will be on location most days):
This is the 2nd Exhibition of our 150th Anniversary Year. The theme of this exhibition is also our year long theme: Breath. Heart. Spirit. and also the title of the OSA book, which has just been printed and is available for sale on our website.
The submission deadline is February 16, 2022 to give the curator, Dermot Wilson, the time to complete the preparations for the show.
You are invited to submit 2 pieces of your art. Your entry fee will include an exhibition catalogue. The drop off date will be February 20th. There will be an opening at the Gallery on Saturday March 19th.
THIS CALL IS NOW CLOSED
Thank you to Bob and Quan Steele who have offered to transport the pieces to North Bay in their van. This will be helpful for the artists in Southern Ontario.
If you are available and can help with transport, please send me an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Funds have been set aside to help with the costs for this.
