A Group Exhibition Celebrating the Art of the Ontario Society of Artists and the Royal Canadian Academy
Aurora, Ontario – The Aurora Cultural Centre is proud to present Distinctly Canadian: Celebrating the Fine Art of Members of the Ontario Society of Artists and the Royal Canadian Academy. The show will launch on Thursday, September 9 at 7 p.m. in the Blue Gallery at the Centre. The public is warmly invited to attend the launch to meet many of the artists who will be in attendance, including those from Aurora, King City and Newmarket. The show features paintings and contemporary sculpture from 10 artists with national and international reputations, and will continue through until October 30th. Admission is free.
Guest Curator Clare Bolton feels that this exhibit will be one of the most exceptional and visually exciting art exhibits in York Region this fall:
“All artists in this show have acquired designations from the OSA or the RCA (and in some cases both) that acknowledge the level of excellence they have attained in skill and concepts as expressed through their mediums. They inspire future artists to train and respect the profession and stretch themselves to strive for originality beyond the ordinary. To curate an exhibit of this quality, in this beautifully-restored facility, is an uplifting experience.”

The Ontario Society of Artists, founded in 1872, is Canada’s longest continuing art society. Their mandate is to foster and promote the visual arts through exhibitions, publications and arts advocacy. The Royal Canadian Academy was founded in 1883, and recognizes visual artists who have demonstrated excellence and honours in their achievements. Both organizations have rigorous set of standards that require the highest level of commitment and achievement from artist members.
